Recieved this link from Mary today: Chimamanda Adichie: The danger of a single story
I was mesmorized by her voice and poise. Such an inspiring author. Her message reminded me of an incident at we had here shortly after Meron came home.
The kids were playing out in the yard with a few of the neighbor children. One of the children innocently asked Meron, "what kind of clothes did you wear in Ethiopia?" To which another neighbor child quickly replied, "I bet they were dirty clothes."
I had a hard time punishing Meron for her 'gut' reaction to throw the ball she had in her hand directly at his stomach. It certainly presented us a good learning experience.
